A giant kitchen needs an island that can compete with its size. A Caesarstone countertop in Blizzard tops this 14-foot-long station, anchoring the floor plan. Anything smaller would be swallowed up by the vastness.
Matching subway tile plays off the the blue-gray veining on these Silestone countertops. The cool colors are warmed up thanks to brass accents and trim. An island made of weathered barnwood, with a built-in Carrara marble cutting board, adds warmth and texture. It helps make an otherwise more glam kitchen feel relaxed.
Ceramic tile countertops are made from individual clay-based tiles adhered over a cement-board core using thin-set mortar adhesives. For kitchen countertops, grout seams make tile a less-than-ideal countertop material, but newer ceramic and porcelain tiles are available in large sizes that can help minimize the number of seams and make for easier upkeep.
