Matching subway tile plays off the the blue-gray veining on these Silestone countertops. The cool colors are warmed up thanks to brass accents and trim. An island made of weathered barnwood, with a built-in Carrara marble cutting board, adds warmth and texture. It helps make an otherwise more glam kitchen feel relaxed.
Don't be afraid to mix materials. This Chicago kitchen contasts the Absolute Black granite with a leathered finish of pale wood on the island. Gray cabinets are topped with a Silestone counter in subtly-veined Pulsar.
Concrete countertops are an unusual countertop choice, but one that gives a home a one-of-a-kind look. They are usually fabricated and poured on-site by a specialist crew who creates forms to match the space. The concrete can be colored and textured, if you wish, or the concrete can be highly polished to a shiny gleam.
