Crafted from walnut, imbuia and anigre, this kitchen's nearly 11-foot-long island was inspired by English antiques. Surprisingly, though, it's totally durable. The wood is sealed with an acrylic finish, so it resists spills, scratches, stains, and heat.
This tiny kitchen was inspired by the outdoors. Along with sky-blue cabinets and cloud-white walls, there's also a Silestone counter in a deep forest green. It acts like a neutral, so it can go with almost anything. Marble and casual don't exactly go together, so if you're looking to keep things low-key, opt for butcher block. Paired with pale oak floors and plank cabinetry, the room's filled with warmth and informality.
For most people, the high expense of recycled glass slab countertops is justified only for the novelty factor, since the same look and performance can usually be achieved in engineered quartz. However, there are some recycled glass slabs that offer a true one-of-a-kind look.
