The final natural stone commonly found in countertops is slate, which is quarried straight from the earth, cut into slabs, and surface-grinded to a matte finish. It is a surprisingly good material for countertops, since it is relatively non-porous and resists stains well.
A giant kitchen needs an island that can compete with its size. A Caesarstone countertop in Blizzard tops this 14-foot-long station, anchoring the floor plan. Anything smaller would be swallowed up by the vastness.
Quartz countertops are one of the latest and greatest manmade countertop materials, made popular by brands such as Dupont Zodiaq and Cambria. This material is composed of pulverized waste rock plus resins for hardness and binding.
