In an NYC apartment, the kitchen’s custom island is topped with brushed stainless steel, the range is by Wolf, the Saarinen table and chairs are from Knoll, and the Dandelion chandeliers by Tony Duquette are from Remains Lighting; the Roman shade is of a China Seas fabric with velvet trim from Duralee, and the floor tiles are by Paris Ceramics.
If you've got a rustic kitchen and want to add a modern touch, consider your cabinetry. White cabinets and stainless steel appliances help it feel clean and fresh. A bold color is ideal for a bar area. It's cool and sexy, but won't overpower your entire kitchen.
If blue and white seems too coastal for you, opt for navy. The richer tone is grounding in a kitchen, and it looks amaze with brass hardware. If the contrast feels too stark between white and blue, opt for gray. The cool tones create a mellow, relaxing place to get your bake on.
